NetWorkDays(start, end [, holiday...])
NetWorkDays (working days) in Power BI
NetWorkDays counts Monday-to-Friday working days between two dates, minus listed holidays. DAX has NETWORKDAYS with configurable weekends and a holiday table. A working-day flag on the date table is often the more maintainable option.
What it does in Qlik
NetWorkDays(start_date, end_date [, holiday]) returns the number of working days (Monday to Friday) from start to end, inclusive. Holidays are passed as string constants, often through a variable that holds a comma-separated list. The working week cannot be changed.
Qlik example
LET vHolidays = '''2026-01-01'', ''2026-12-25'', ''2026-12-26''';
LOAD OrderID, NetWorkDays(OrderDate, ShipDate, $(vHolidays)) AS LeadDays
FROM [lib://Data/orders.qvd] (qvd);Power BI equivalent
NETWORKDAYS in a calculated column
Lead days =
NETWORKDAYS (
Orders[OrderDate],
Orders[ShipDate],
1, -- Saturday/Sunday weekend
{ DATE ( 2026, 1, 1 ), DATE ( 2026, 12, 25 ), DATE ( 2026, 12, 26 ) }
)Date-table flag (scales better)
Lead days (calendar) =
VAR s = Orders[OrderDate]
VAR e = Orders[ShipDate]
RETURN
COUNTROWS ( FILTER ( 'Date', 'Date'[Date] >= s && 'Date'[Date] <= e && 'Date'[Is Working Day] ) )'Date'[Is Working Day] can come from a holiday list in Power Query, so that one table serves every report.
Gotchas and behaviour differences
- DAX
NETWORKDAYSlets you pick other weekends (for example7for Friday/Saturday). Qlik's function is fixed to Monday to Friday. - If
ShipDateis blank, the result is not what you want (a blank date is treated as day zero, which can give a large negative count). Wrap it inIF(NOT ISBLANK(Orders[ShipDate]), ...). - Datetime values: the time part is ignored for counting, but check what your source sends.

Master calendar (date table)
The Qlik master calendar script maps to a date table built in Power Query (List.Dates) or DAX (CALENDAR), marked as a date table and related to the fact date. It is essential for every time-intelligence function.
Direct equivalent
AddMonths(startdate, n [, mode])
AddMonths
AddMonths shifts a date by n months. EDATE (DAX) and Date.AddMonths (M) do the same with mode 0 semantics. Mode 1 (end-relative) needs a few extra lines. DAX DATEADD is not the same function.
